We know you’ve been in the fitness industry for a while, what is the one highlight that stands out? Being on ESPN competing in The Reebok National Aerobics Championship(s) for 8 years in a row and turning on the TV on a random day and watching the re-runs of the shows and seeing myself by surprise.
And did you rock the 1980s workout look? If so, give us some detail. The 80’s were wonderful!!! Yes, I rocked it all. Spiral perm in my hair, flesh colored tights with a thong leotard over the top of the tights, stretchy belt, floppy socks and the best thing of all was the neon or metallic headband!!! Hot!!!
What makes your uDefine and uCycle classes different from others? I think that my personality is what makes my classes different. I have a ton of energy and I continually move from song to song, I love music and I constantly change my classes/routines up. That includes new playlists for almost all of my classes each time I teach. Teaching comes not only from my heart but it runs deep inside my soul.
We hear you’re one of the most energetic teachers; where do you get all that energy ad nd how do you maintain it? It comes from deep inside of me. I have always had high energy and I am very passionate about my students and what I am trying to share with them. I maintain it by keeping my music and exercises fresh, new, and different. I also try to get “lost” in my students. I try to think about how they are feeling and what they are doing.
What is most important to you when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle? Balance, balance, and balance!!!!! I learned with my years in the fitness industry that there were many factors to the word “healthy.” Most people think of “healthy” as a thin or a fit body. I have learned that with a healthy mind, a balanced heart, and an enriched soul, this is the prescription for the word healthy. With this, there is nothing you cannot do or become. “Healthy” is so much more than just exercise.
We all need a little cheat-cheat from time to time, so what’s your favorite indulgence? I love candy!!!!! Anything gummy…I also love a burger and fries about once a month, yummy!
What are three things that people may not know about you or would be surprised to learn about you?
1. I love to read and I love all animals. I go crazy when I go to the zoo or visit a farm…there is no place else I would rather be.
2. I use to be on The Joanie Griggins early morning exercise show as an instructor.
3. I traveled all over the U.S. as a dancer with Reebok. I traveled with my two partners who were “Solid Gold” dancers in the 80’s. We preformed at trade shows with professional athletes. It was a lot of fun!
If you had to describe yourself in one word, it would be: Passion!
When you have a day off, we will most likely find you: Somewhere with my daughter and husband. We love to travel and explore. We also love to experience new foods and wine together.
